ok, Sign up for geocities, then goto page builder, and edit in html, then put this code in, <BODY background="[red]URL Here[/red]"> and change the text in red to the layout jpg file name. then put the text where it is needed and BOOM u got ur site.

Or, you could just activate the site builder, and go to where it says "Format" on the top and click the "Background" link, and choose a picture from there! or even a background color! instead of having to edit html. (It's just common sense to have curiosity on a website creator program, and what each attribute does.)
Also, add a text box, type what ever and hit the text color button (a T with a bucket behind it.) and change the color. then highlight the text you just wrote, and hit the link button, and then type in the address of the page you want the link to go to!
Also, if the webpage looks small to you, go to format, and page properties. look where it has Hieght and Width. Change the width to 1000 for a wider page, or the hiegth to 2000 for a longer page.
It helps to figure out what everything does before you start, so explore first, ask questions later...
